Celebrating three years of fostering

My phone reminded me the other day that we have just ticked over three years of fostering, which seems like a little milestone worth celebrating.

To celebrate, I thought I would share some of the numbers and some photos of our first fosters - a couple of cute kittens (now cats).

So a breakdown of the numbers:

  • How long we have been fostering = 1097 days

  • Number of cats fostered = 21

  • Number of “foster fails” (we think she is a “foster win”) = 1

  • Number of nights without a foster in the house = 92 days

  • Average stay = 66 days

  • Shortest stay = 4 days

  • Longest stay (without becoming a foster fail) = 132 days* (current active streak)

Our first fosters, were known to us as Penny and Pepper (then renamed to Possum and Lola) - a pair of kitten (a.k.a. terrorists) who were with us for just 8 days while they growing up to be big enough to go through de-sex and then up for adoption. To be honest, I can’t really recall too much about them except how much energy they had, how much mischief they got up to, and how adorable they were. I hope they are happy in their furever homes.
