Pikelet’s parents have been kind enough to share photos and updates of her first three days with them.

Before hearing from them I had been struggling and nervous about how little Pikelet would adjust to her new life, with new people especially when it was just our little household who were the only hoomans that she had ever trusted enough for pats and cuddles.

I was such a feeling of relief when I heard from them that she was doing well. She had been hiding quite a bit (although just about any cat in a new environment would) but she had been coming out pretty regularly to play and socialise.

I was so pleased to see the photos that they had bought a “Da Bird” toy - probably Pikelet’s favourite toy. It was great that they were playing with her - she’s still super playful and I believe it is one of the best ways to get a cat to own its new environment by taping into its instinct to hunt and pounce.

The photos that they shared of Pikelet are just gorgeous! She looks quite confident and relaxed in some of them. Her eyes are wide so she’s clearly keeping a keen eye on what’s going on but I think that’s also because a lot of the photos have been taken when she’s been out playing.

I’m so proud of how well she’s doing and it just brings me so much joy to see her out living with her new family.

I’m really pleased that they plan to keep sharing photos and updates from time to time - I hope to convince them to write something for the blog in future. We still really miss having her around the house but it’s just fantastic that she’s found her furever family and home.

Their photos are amazing too! I wouldn’t be too surprised if my Instagram followers grows with photos like these coming in.
