Nailed it!

In the last few days Pikelet has been becoming more and more smoochy - rubbing up against us, seeking out the pats, sitting in my lap and snuggling up. She was especially snuggly this morning. Mid-morning we had a young couple who were interested in adopting her come by for a meet and greet. I was super curious how Pikelet would handle this as it was one of the first times that she was meeting someone else from outside our household. Honestly I could not have been more proud of her. She spent the first few minutes sussing them out - chirping away and moving all around them to check them out from all angles. She was a little nervous but very curious but very quickly settled into some play time - first with me and then with them. The couple were amazing - very patient and letting Pikelet lead the interaction. After a while we tried some of the Dine Creamy Treats paste and soon enough they were giving Pikelet some lovely strokes on her cheeks and neck as she ate her paste and were able to keep this going even once all the paste was gone. We spoke about their plans to build Pikelet a nice lookout from their home office and a semi-outdoor enclosure - these were clearly cat-loving humans and we just knew they would provide the most amazing furever home for little Pikelet.

They asked about the next steps (we hadn’t spoken about that) but they had already started getting their house ready for her in case they were able to adopt her today - we spoke with the Adoptions team and they were given the green light. They made a quick little detour to the nearest pet shop to pick up a couple of supplies then came back to take home their new fur baby. Fortunately this gave me a few more minutes to say goodbye to little Miss Pikelet, have a couple of bonus cuddles and sneak in a couple more photos. I know this is happy news but I miss her. I look forward to hopefully hearing how she’s settling in and hopefully having a few photos to share. They were a lovely couple and I know she’s in good hands and I couldn’t be prouder of how well she did meeting them today. Good luck Pikelet - live your best life!
