Forty thousand reasons to give the people what they want, Fred

One could argue that this site is mostly a vanity project to celebrate the various animals that have come into our lives. It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted about handsome little Frederick. Things have been pretty awesome during that time - both for Frederick and more broadly for us (more on that another time).

This morning I joked on Instagram about posting fewer photos of me and more of dogs and cats, to which one of my friends responded with “you know what the viewers want!!” Maybe I do…

On Monday I posted a short video on YouTube of Frederick getting comfortable on my lap. He loves to hang out with me but this was the first time that he had felt brave enough to settle on to my lap and he was clearly happy to be there. I took a video to have something to remember the moment - expecting that the only people that would be interested in it would be our house, a few friends who humour my obsession with foster cats, and the caring Behaviour Team at RSPCA Queensland. Regardless I posted it on YouTube. I have no idea whether it was a glitch in the YouTube algorithm, someone generous buying me some views, or just luck but it generated a bit of interest this afternoon - 40,000 views and over 1,000 likes!!! I have no idea why this video blew up like it did but it was amazing 2-3 hours when it did.
